St. Pio of Pietrelcina Chapel – Eastwood Libis

The Chapel of St. Pio of Pietrelcina in Eastwood, Libis, Quezon City, is one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations for the devotees of St. Pio, familiarly known as Padre Pio. This chapel rose to fame because of its peaceful environment and large followings because of devotion to St. Pio, who was an Italian priest highly respected for his piety, charity, and mystical phenomena during his lifetime, one of which was stigmata.

It is a replica of the original Church of San Giovanni Rotondo in Italy, where St. Pio spent most of his life. The architectural design is very simple and elegant; an atmosphere of peace and tranquility influences everybody to pray and reflect. Inside, they displayed icons of saints, one statue of St. Pio in life-sized form, and some of his relics.

In contrast, St. Pio is taken as a very influential intercessor between human beings and God; thus, people come in their multitudes to this chapel for healing and other forms of miracles, especially health-related ones. Masses are also regularly celebrated here, confessions are heard, and other religious activity goes on that makes the premises very lively spiritual life centers.
